Smash it up

My new kitchen addiction is crushing seeds instead of grinding them. It adds a nice crunchiness and the flavor seems more intense. What I do is dry toast the spice (say, coriander seed) then place it in a plastic bag, put some newspaper over the plastic bag, take a hammer and smash the bejeezus out of it. It's punk and yummy. Now I need to find more food that I can hammer.
